Topic 7 Fall Meeting- Towards a Sustainable Bioeconomy in Forschungszentrum Jülich

It is one of the key questions that will shape our future: How can we build a sustainable economy that meets humanity’s needs while at the same time not putting the Earth’s natural resources under excess strain? And how can we achieve this when there are already more than 8 billion people living on our planet and around ten billion by 2050?

However, the answers to these questions can only be provided scientifically as joint leadership - thinking beyond the boundaries of the various disciplines and areas and formulating them together. Topic 7 organizes annual Fall Meetings to specifically support scientists in stimulating interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation. With interactive formats such as workshops, break-out sessions and a World Café, the aim is to provide insights into the work of colleagues and identify potential synergies. From December 6 to 8, the scientists of Topic 7 met at Forschungszentrum Jülich to strengthen cooperation Towards a Sustainable Bioeconomy. We would like to thank all participants from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) for their inspiring contributions.
