DNAzymes – How Active DNA Molecules with Therapeutic Potential Work

Jülich/Düsseldorf, 23 December 2021 – DNAzymes are high-precision biocatalysts that target and destroy unwanted RNA molecules in a targeted manner. However, there is one major obstacle preventing their medical use. A team of researchers from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) together with Forschungszentrum Jülich and the University of Bonn have investigated how exactly the DNAzymes function in real time. These fundamental findings represent a further step towards application and have now been published in the renowned journal Nature.
