NIC Supercomputers

The supercomputers for the John von Neumann Institute for Computing are installed at Forschungszentrum Jülich and at DESY-Zeuthen.

In Jülich, computer resources are offered on the petaflop system IBM Blue Gene/P JUGENE, and on a 200 Teraflop/s general purpose supercomputer JUROPA. The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) is responsible for the operation of the supercomputers.

At DESY-Zeuthen parallel computers with SIMD architecture are installed for applications in the field of theoretical high energy physics. This computer architecture has proved particularly efficient especially in the simulation of quantum chromodynamics. The Centre for Parallel Computing DESY Zeuthen is responsible for the operating of the APE/Quadrics computers.
