For applications in the field of theoretical high energy physics NIC has parallel computers with SIMD architecture installed at DESY-Zeuthen. This computer architecture has proved particularly efficient especially in the simulation of quantum chromodynamics. The Centre for Parallel Computing DESY Zeuthen is responsible for the operating of the APE computers.
