Jülich Expertise: Self-Cleansing Capability of the Atmosphere: Decisive for Air Quality, Essential for Climate

30 November 2015 – The hydroxyl (OH) radical allows the atmosphere to cleanse itself of many pollutants. However, this process is different in regions where humans heavily pollute the air than in forested areas far away from the big cities. To better estimate the potential of this self-cleansing capability on the air quality and climate, Jülich researchers are investigating the underlying chemical processes.
