Nature Study on Global Warming Qualifies Inconsistencies Between Earlier Studies

Statements by climate experts on the study

5 May 2017 – On 3 May, the scientific journal Nature published an analysis on the apparent halt in global warming. The authors of the study, Medhaug et al., analysed investigations published on this topic in recent years and attempted to re-evaluate various models and observations from these studies. The reason for doing so is that between about 1998 and 2012, according to various studies, the surface temperature of the Earth hardly seemed to increase at all. This phenomenon, frequently termed the global warming hiatus, raises questions about our understanding of the climate system, including the issue of how well we understand anthropogenic climate change and natural variability.
