In my research, I explore the brain regions in terms of their structural construct, connection to other brain areas as well as their behavioral correlates.
Therefore in the first step, using large cohort datasets, where one has information on wide-range of behaviors and can control for a high number of potentially confounding parameters, I create tools to assess reliable behavioral profile of a given brain region. Further, by incorporating information on variations in local neurobiological features of the studied brain region as well as its connections to the rest of the brain, I aim to refine the estimated functional profiles and get better understanding of the brain region, itself.
Ultimately, the created tools will become available for the community to facilitate behavioral profiling of the brain regions in large-cohort datasets. Thus created profiles could be further combined with for example meta-analysis based functional profiling of the same region to further improve our understanding of the functional role of the region.
