Citizen Scientists Wanted in Cologne Area

Collaborative project SMARAGD investigates the health impacts of air pollution

Jülich, 29 March 2021 – Air pollution is a threat to human health. Its possible consequences are varied and range from short-term breathing difficulties to chronic illnesses. However, the level of air pollution varies from place to place, making it difficult to investigate its health impacts. Because of this, the citizen science project SMARAGD combines information on local pollution levels with health data. Citizen scientists from the Cologne region can now apply to participate in the project.
