Visit us on Tag der Neugier 2022 on August 21st - Open Day at Forschungszentrum Jülich

Tag der Neugier advertisment

Join us on a journey into the exciting world of chips. Please come and visit us at our building 02.5.

You encounter the little chips every day. Sometimes they are so small and cleverly built that you don't even notice them and these technical marvels help us every day in different ways. We explain you how a wafer turns into a microchip; how ground measurement systems can help for example for climate research.

You will also witness the "Kamiokanne" experiment live and see how an ordinary coffee pot can be used to recreate a Nobel Prize-winning experiment. And of course you can also learn everything about the exciting topic of quantum computer chips while eating potato chips. We're looking forward to see you at ZEA-2.

Our stations:

  • The Kamiokanne - Live experiment - How you can measure cosmic radiation with our chip and a coffee pot!
  • Quantum computer chips - super cool
  • Measuring systems for tomographic examination of agricultural areas and soils
  • The legend of the semiconductors - A history of the brave wafers and chip designs
  • Mini electronics for satellite sensors - understand the climate better

You can find us here - ckeck the interactive map of Forschungszentrum Jülich.

What is Tag der Neugier?

"Shaping change" is the motivation of the almost 7,000 people who work at Forschungszentrum Jülich on the great challenges of our time: Hand in hand with administration, technology and management, the scientists at Jülich are researching options for a more digital society, a climate-friendly energy system and an economy that preserves resources.

What this means in concrete terms and what contribution Jülich research makes to the region in the process of structural change and to society in general will be presented by the employees of the Forschungszentrum Jülich on 21 August, on #TagDerNeugier 2022. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. guests can look over the shoulder of the researchers, talk to them and gain an insight into everyday research life.

Visit the scientists in their laboratories, on the campus and experience research up close.

Visitors can look forward to easy-to-understand presentations and many hands-on activities that will arouse curiosity and provide insights into everyday research at Jülich.
