Monitoring Atmospheric Composition & Climate (MACC)

The image shows near surface ozone concentrations from the most recent
global atmospheric composition forecast of the MACC-II project gmes-atmosphere

These 5-day forecasts are based on a prior analysis where trace gas and
aerosol retrievals from several different satellite instruments are
assimilated into the model system. The model consists of the Integrated
Forecasting System at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather
Forecasts (ECMWF) and the chemistry transport model MOZART which has
been co-developed in Jülich.
Ozone mixing ratios above 60 ppbv constitute a health risk.
