Forschungszentrum Jülich at Hannover Messe 2018

Jülich, 17. April 2018 - Research Centre Jülich is represented at the Hannover Messe with work on energy technologies in Hall 27, Stand D68. In a presentation at the Integrated Energy Plaza, they will inform about the first results of the Kopernikus Power-to-X project (26.4., 14.30 - 14:50 h, Hall 27, Booth H74).

Power-to-X: Key Enabling Technology for Integrated Energy

Germany is an international pioneer in the field of renewable energies. But it cannot rest on it. Solar energy and wind power fluctuate strongly. The increasing expansion of the energy transition therefore requires technologies that enable energy storage and transfer to other sectors. Examples include the generation and storage of hydrogen or methane by electrolysis (Power-to-Gas) and the conversion into liquid substances such as synthetic fuels for mobility (Power-to-Liquids) and high-value base chemicals for the chemical industry (Power-to-Chemicals).

At the Integrated Energy Plaza of the Hannover Messe 2018, project coordinator Prof. Rüdiger-A. Eichel from Forschungszentrum Jülich provides an overview of activities and interim results of the Kopernikus flagship project P2X, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Scientists from more than 50 institutions and companies explore and compare different strategies and processes that allow a more flexible use and storage of electricity from intermittent renewable energy production. The aim is to identify economically meaningful approaches from several options and to find out which technology mix is most suitable for the future. (26.4., 14.30 - 14:50, Hall 27, Stand H74)
