Big Data Analytics

The Big Data Analytics group develops software and methodology to build a microscopic resolution 3D model of the human brain, which includes detailed information about the spatial arrangement and the properties of neuronal cells and nerve fibers, and highly precise 3D maps of brain areas.

Clinical Neuroanatomy

The aim of the research group "Clinical Neuroanatomy" is on the one hand to understand the neuroanatomical causes of various movement disorders in vivo and post mortem in order to enable an early diagnosis and identify biomarkers for possible therapies and on the other hand to distinguish primarily age-related changes in motor function from pathological movement disorders.

The „Connectivity“ group is interested in the relevance of fiber tracts for the structure and architecture of the surface and cortex of the brain. A particular focus are changes in the anatomy of the brain’s surface and fiber tracts at older age.

Neurotransmitter receptor

Receptors

Neurotransmitters and their receptors represent the molecular basis for structure-function relationships in the brain. Each brain area contains nerve cells that express receptors for inhibitory, excitatory and modulatory neurotransmitters. Differences in the regional and laminar distribution patterns of a single receptor type can be analysed by quantitative in vitro receptor autoradiography.
