We calculate and analyse the complex structural, electronic, magnetic and transport quantities of quantum materials — for fundamental research and practical applications.
Our division is part of the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI-1) and the Institute for Advanced Simulation (IAS-1).
Research profile
We are an active institute of about 40 people made up of master and PhD students, postdocs, research fellows, visitors, guests, prize winners, young investigators and senior scientists. We are the ones designing the research and move it ahead.

An asset of our institute is to develop and to apply new conceptual and computational methods. Of particular interest to us are methods related to density functional theory and supercomputing.
