The Geoverbund ABC/J is the leading geoscientific network in the Aachen-Bonn-Cologne-Jülich research region. As an association of 34 renowned geoscientific institutes at RWTH Aachen University, the University of Bonn, the University of Cologne and Forschungszentrum Jülich, it promotes cutting-edge geoscientific research.
In its function as a facilitator, the Geoverbund ABC/J promotes the initiation of joint research projects through start-up funding, establishes and supports the development of competence centres and facilitates easy access to research infrastructures. Its aim is to identify pressing geoscientific issues of the future and to develop supra-regional solutions.
Another focus is the promotion of young scientists: with its cross-location studies and joint training programmes, the Geoverbund ABC/J offers a unique regional learning environment in which young talents can benefit from the diversity of geoscientific disciplines.
As a mediator between science, politics, business and society, the Geoverbund ABC/J makes these activities and their results accessible to the public. This not only strengthens the profile and visibility of its members and the entire ABC/J research region, but also creates important conditions for shaping the world of tomorrow together in a positive way.
