We investigate the dynamic world of membrane systems and biocatalysis. Reliable information of these systems can often only be obtained by combining atomic resolution with sufficiently native conditions. To realize this, we are developing tailored biochemical and NMR-spectroscopic methods with the goal of opening up new fields of cellular structural biology. The novel methods are also directly applied to address key questions, e.g. in the field of neuronal information processing and DNA-mediated catalysis.
