The German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) apply on the Jülich campus. You will need to present your employee ID card at the gates to be granted access to campus. If you don’t have your ID card, you will need to register first at the main entrance before you can enter campus. You may drive onto campus in your car and parking is allowed in the designated parking spaces (free of charges). Information on access to the Jülich campus can be found below.

Access to the Jülich campus

You may only access the Jülich campus upon showing your employee ID card or a visitors’ card issued to you.

You will receive your employee ID card on your first day of work at the ID office.

The ID Office is located at the main entrance, building 12.1 (tel: 02461 61-5314). If your employee ID card is not ready at the ID office on your first day of work, a visitors’ card may be used instead. You will need to present your national identity card or passport to receive your employee ID card or a visitors’ card.

Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 13:00 and from 13:45 to 15:30

Please Note: The ID office is particularly busy on the first working day of each month and in the middle of each month due to a large number of new colleagues. Please plan a waiting time of approximately 30 minutes to pick up your employee ID card, especially on these days.

The Visitor Service is also located at the main entrance, building 12.1 (tel: 02461 61-5308, -5716, and -5935).

Campus entrances and gate opening hours

Before Your First Day at Forschungszentrum Jülich

There are a total of four gates to enter our Jülich campus. Please note that one of these gates can only be accessed by bicycle. It is not possible to drive through this gate by car.

The gates are open at the following times:

Main entrance

Monday to Sunday from 00:00 to 24:00

Hambach gate

Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 20:00

Daubenrath gate

Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 08:30

Monday to Thursday from 15:45 to 17:45

Friday from 14:00 to 16:45

Bicycle gate (Jülich gate)

Monday to Sunday from 00:00 to 24:00 (employee ID card must be coded for the bicycle gate in advance at the ID office)
