The book is the result of a 1.5-year joint work of Prof. Andrey Kulikovsky together with Prof. Michael Eikerling, who is with the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. The book summarizes approaches to and results in modeling of PEM fuel cell materials and performance. This is the first monograph of that scale and volume with nearly 600 pages. The first two chapters contain general discussion of perspectives for building hydrogen-fueled world, which could be interesting to general readers, and a concise introduction to the theory of fuel cells, which might be useful for students at all levels. It should be emphasized that the book has grown from the knowledge and experience gained by the authors here, in Juelich.
