It belongs to the responsibilities of the IBG 3: Agrosphere to translate research findings into management options that can be used by political organizations and decision makers to address pressing societal challenges. This is particularly important in areas where strong changes or rapid technological developments pose questions about consequences for society and environment.

Forschungsnetzwerk NRW-Agrar
We participate in the research network NRW-Agrar, which aims to intensify collaboration between key research partners in the agricultural sector within North Rhine-Westphalia. The strategy platform of NRW-Agrar is jointly coordinated by the federal Ministry of Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine Westphalia and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine Westphalia and serves as a platform to discuss current challenges in science and agricultural policy. EU Mission Soil Deal for Europe
Prof. Harry Vereecken is one of the 15 elected European soil experts to represent the European Union Mission Board and advise on the EU Mission Soil Deal for Europe. EU Missions are a new way to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges. They have ambitious goals and will deliver tangible results by 2030.
The Mission Soil supports the creation of 100 living labs (places for on-the-ground experiments) and lighthouses (sites for showcasing good practices) that lead the transition towards healthy soils in rural and urban areas by 2030. The Mission Soil also carries out an ambitious research and innovation programme, advances soil monitoring in the EU, and increases the public’s participation for soil protection and restoration. Since its launch in 2021, over 300 million euros have been dedicated to its research agenda. More
