HPSC-TerSys

The development, implementation, and application of generic key technologies for integrated simulations of Terrestrial Systems at the catchment and basin scale is the focus of the Centre for HPSC in Terrestrial Systems. Key technologies include physics-based scientific code and data assimilation infrastructure based on advanced parallel paradigms and algorithms. These technologies are needed to assess and manage water resources in the context of global change that impacts socioeconomic well-being, human health and security worldwide. The Centre’s research program is built on the unique interdisciplinary research and teaching infrastructure of Geoverbund ABC/J and state-of-the-art supercomputing environments at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre. The Centre strives to complete the path from fundamental research in computational Earth’s sciences to predictions useful for the general public, industry, and public policy makers.
